The Construction Process

Lot Evaluation

First, we conduct a FREE custom home site assessment on your lot. Our experienced team inspects the land and conducts a site survey. Based on the results of the survey, we then establish a budget for those items that may be required to make the land suitable for building. Some of those items might be removing trees, grading the land, well and septic systems. House placement is critical to maximize views, sun exposure, proper drainage and more.

Design

Creating your “Dream”

  1. Preliminary or schematic design – We will define and review your requirements, study the pictures of the site, then make preliminary sketches illustrating the scope of the project and its relationship to the site and its surroundings, and review these with you.
  2. Design development – As the design takes shape, each aspect is considered, revised as necessary and refined until all concerned are in agreement. Now the design is essentially complete, and with approvals, the next phase can begin.
  3. Construction documentation – Based on documents developed and approved in the previous phase, we will prepare Final drawings in sufficient detail to describe the work to be done to construct your home.

Color Selections

Turn your home into the vision of your dreams by utilizing our knowledge and experience. Our team will explain all your options and answer any of your questions. Our team works closely with each home owner. Color selections can be an overwhelming task, but at The Skylar Group we take time to help you and guide you through this process. At The Skylar Group you are not rushed into making quick decisions’ that could be devastating in the end. We also keep you on track with your budget!

Jobsite Meetings

At The Skylar Group we strive to provide great customer service and clear communication so you can understand the progress of your job at every phase. Weekly emails and phone calls are the minimum requirement for our team. At The Skylar Group we go a step farther and encourage homeowners just to stop by the jobsite and take a walk through your dream home. At the frame stage we have a “PLACEMENT WALK” with the builder, electrician and homeowner walk the home and confirm electrical items are placed correctly and we can make any fine tuning that’s necessary. We also check cabinet layout, plumbing rough in and any specialty items.
